Origins

Cryptowiki exists as a central knowledge base to serve the cryptographic community, a place to find, and share information on the subject. Currently there exists not central hub of information related to the exchange of information regarding cryptography, and certainly not one which you can get involved with. So here it is, browse, edit, add, an invaluable resource for everything concerning cryptography.

But wait, you don't have to register, isn't that kind of crazy?
You may call us crazy, opening ourselves to all kind of vandalism, but our aim is to build a community where people respect the information provided, and vandalism is kept at bay. Besides in the near future we'll have a roll back function, where you can access older versions of the pages, just in case!
So anybody can edit the pages?
That's right, our philosophy is that if you've got something to share, go ahead and let us at it. All of us that is! We actively encourage anybody who knows anything to add to the site, so we can build a huge knowledge base of all aspects of cryptography.

Software

Unlike many wikis on the web, Cryptowiki runs on custom software, which utilizes current xml technologies and a flat file database. If you are interested in obtaining the software contact us and we'll see what we can do. The software is lightweight (less than 8Mb) and robust, (or at least will be after beta testing!), and allows for easy customization of the aesthetics, which is one up on many of the existing wiki software, which chain you to a standard look.
